She is also a Lecturer in the Department for Real Estate Studies (RES) in the School of the Built Environment. She joined the Copperbelt University in 2013 and was Research Coordinator for the RES department before being appointed Head of Department. She further serves as an affiliate faculty member of the School of Graduate Studies, teaching on masters’ programmes for the School of the Built Environment, School of Mines and Mineral Sciences, and School of Natural Resources. She collaborates with local and international organisations in the governance and management of natural resources, environment and development nexus. Some of her collaborative activities include natural resource governance and management, research project fund-raising, professional support to civil society organisations and academia. Some of her professional support has been providing coaching services to SMEs through the Accelerated Growth for start-ups, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (AGS) mining cohort programme. She also provides mentoring to upcoming professionals at undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures in environment and development courses. She further provides mentorship to youth, women and cooperatives as a former member of the Riverside Ward Development Committee. Nelly is always looking to learning and improving her knowledge and skills on how to build other people’s individual and collective capacity to improve their well being and contribute to the development of our country. She finds great reward in seeing successful individuals and organisations contributing to the welfare of households, communities and the nation at large in a sustainable manner.
